Sam Ramji at Microsoft writes:

Based on the email I received I would say that many Port 25 readers noticed my post last week on job openings in my new lab. Thank you for your positive responses (and especially the resume submissions)! Brad Cutler, my counterpart at Novell, has been overwhelmed with responses as well, so thank you on his behalf.

I’ve called this a sneak peek because there is much work ahead of us, but it’s time to talk in a little more detail about what the lab will be doing. I and my colleagues at Novell and within Microsoft have been putting in long hours for the last several weeks – nights and weekends as well – detailing the plans for our work together.

We’ve recently posted some backup and anti-virus partner profiles as part of a Cool Solutions article. These profiles explain what these partner products support in OES today. Yes, we do have support for NetWare, and more importantly, we do have partners that support OES — specifically NSS volumes on Linux, eDirectory and GroupWise environments. Take a look at the article and share it with others on your team. These partners have also stated early commitment for OES 2.

With the upcoming changes to Daylight Saving Time here in North America, there are several technical information documents (TID’s) that describe the process of updating core products to allow for this change. It is critical that you apply the changes to your GroupWise systems NOW in order to minimize the instances where future appointments in the time span affected are off by one hour.

GroupWise customers can also reference TID #3802376

When Novell and Microsoft announced their unlikely partnership, a part of the arrangement that got little attention at the time was that they’d create a joint research facility, where both companies’ technical experts would collaborate on new joint software solutions. Now, they’re staffing up.

According to Sam Ramji, Microsoft’s director of platform technology strategy, the companies are looking for a few good program managers and software engineers to populate that joint research facility.
