Here’s the title of the press release: “The SCO Group Files Chapter 11 to Protect Assets as It Addresses Potential Financial and Legal Challenges”, which you can find here. They say reorganization “ensures business as usual.” You can find information on Chapter 11 bankruptcy here. Here’s a paper that says that a study they conducted indicated that firms generally benefit from Chapter 11

Hot off the presses from Groklaw: A ruling in the SCO vs. Novell case.

Hot off the presses: Judge Dale Kimball has issued a 102-page ruling [PDF] on the numerous summary judgment motions in SCO v. Novell. Here it is as text. Here is what matters most:

[T]he court concludes that Novell is the owner of the UNIX and UnixWare Copyrights.

That’s Aaaaall, Folks! The court also ruled that “SCO is obligated to recognize Novell’s waiver of SCO’s claims against IBM and Sequent”. That’s the ball game. There are a couple of loose ends, but the big picture is, SCO lost. Oh, and it owes Novell a lot of money from the Microsoft and Sun licenses.

Many people automatic answer “no,” and say that Scribus is more suitable for desktop publishing. But, in fact, OpenOffice.org boasts two mid-level layout programs — Draw and Writer — each of which is far more versatile than its name suggests.

Dell to Partner with Microsoft, Novell on Interoperability May 7, 2007

Under the agreement to be announced May 7, Dell will buy  SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server certificates from Microsoft that it will make
available to its customers.

It will also establish a services and marketing program to migrate
current Linux users who are not Dell Linux customers to SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server, Rick Becker, senior vice president of strategic
solutions for Dell’s product group, told eWEEK.

Dell will also establish a dedicated customer marketing team for
migrating current Linux users to SUSE Linux. This effort will focus on
three areas: interoperability workshops, migration proof-of-concepts and
migration services, he said.

Ouch!

A number of users in the DST chat room are reporting problems getting their Blackberry servers and devices to sync up with their DST-patched Exchange servers. Others, in spite of Microsoft warnings to apply DST patches in a specific order, are running into problems because they are attempting to patch Exchange before Windows.

GroupWise Development team has found a way to fix all those pesky appointments during the time in question…depending on what client you used to create the appointment.
